SOMETIMES I LOSE MY WORDS

Description of Project:

‘Sometimes I lose my words’ is a sound collage that aired as part of Radiophrenia 2017.

Broadcasting live from Glasgow's CCA, on 87.9FM, Radiophrenia is a temporary art radio station – an exploration into current trends in sound and transmission arts.

(taken from the Radiophrenia 2017 programme description) 'The piece is a series of improvised, electronic soundscapes prefaced by a prose piece intertwined with subway sounds, titled ‘Daydream.’ Anakwe explores what a particular bout with depression would feel like on a sonic level, as an attempt to bring it outside of her mind and body as an act of empowerment. ‘Sometimes I lose my words’ was created through field recordings, spoken text and original compositions.'

Aired:

  • Premiered as part of Radiophrenia 2017, on November 18th, 2017.

  • Aired again as part of Borealis Festival's Radio Space 2018, in March 2018.
